Other ways to donate

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a type of giving fund administered by a third party such as a community foundation or financial institution. DAFs allow you to make a charitable contribution of cash, securities, or other assets to the fund, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants from your DAF account over time to the nonprofits you wish to support.

Further your impact

Giving a gift to the Human Trafficking Legal Center from your DAF is not only convenient and easy for you, but it makes an undeniable impact on our work.

If you are 70½ or older, you can make a tax-free distribution from your traditional or Roth IRA to Human Rights Watch. This is called a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) and it’s an incredible way to support our pursuit of justice and promotion of human rights around the world.

How it works

You can donate up to $100,000 each year without incurring income tax on your withdrawal.

The process

  1. Contact your plan administrator to direct distributions in the amount of your choosing from your traditional or Roth IRA to the Human Trafficking Legal Center (EIN #46-1349584). This can be a one-time or recurring gift.
  2. The distributions go directly to the Human Trafficking Legal Center and are not subject to federal income tax.
  3. You gift may satisfy your IRA’s annual required minimum distribution (RMD), if applicable.
