Celina Schocken

Celina Schocken is the Principal of Advance Global Health, LLC, where she works with the private sector and foundations to introduce innovative health products into Low- and Middle-Income Countries, with a goal of increasing access to lifesaving care for women. Celina works with clients to identify product specifications for new diagnostics and treatments for women’s health, to develop a product introduction and funding pathway, and to plan for introduction and scale up. She has worked on diagnostics for Sexually Transmitted Infections, Tuberculosis, Malaria, Human Papillomavirus and Covid-19, and treatments for Cervical Cancer and the Vaginal Microbiome.

Celina has extensive leadership experience working on healthcare issues in Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia, including innovation, program management, and strategy. Celina led Pink Ribbon Red Ribbon, a PPP focused on cervical cancer, as well as Saving Mothers Giving Life, a PPP focused on maternal health. She directed Merck for Mothers’ policy and advocacy portfolio, led PSI’s Global Fund portfolio, and also led technical assistance programs at the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and malaria. She has also served as Chief Advisor in the Rwandan Ministry of Health and has been a fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations.  

Celina recently worked with the Human Trafficking Legal Center to develop a fact sheet for medical providers about human trafficking. She is also a Court Appointed Special Advocate for foster children in Virginia, and services on Arlington County’s Law Enforcement Community Oversight Board. 

Celina has a BA from the University of Chicago, a JD and Master’s in Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley and an MBA from New York University, the London School of Economics and HEC Paris.
