Anisa Rahim is a Senior Staff Attorney at the Human Trafficking Legal Center where she leads the Direct Legal Services Program focusing on immigration representation and advocacy on behalf of survivors of human trafficking.

Anisa brings nearly two decades of experience in public interest, immigration and civil rights law. Before joining The Human Trafficking Legal Center, she served as a Trial Attorney in the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice where her work included enforcement of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. She led and participated in federal initiatives addressing language access and national origin discrimination in courts, law enforcement and educational institutions.

Previously, Anisa spent more than a decade at Legal Services of New Jersey, most recently as Vice President and Supervising Attorney. She founded and led Legal Services of New Jersey’s anti-trafficking unit, which provided legal representation and advocacy for survivors. The anti-trafficking unit obtained T-visas and other humanitarian forms of relief for trafficking survivors, providing holistic civil legal assistance through partnerships with other public interest attorneys, law enforcement and social service providers. She also led the organization’s language access work, advocating to remove systemic barriers for limited-English proficient communities through litigation and policy advocacy.

Earlier in her career, Anisa worked on human rights and reproductive and disability rights litigation through the Human Rights Law Network in India. Throughout her career, she has worked at the intersection of direct representation, impact advocacy and systemic reform.
